ABOUT
Accomplished jazz trombonist and savvy artistic director, Hélène Lemay regularly performs on the Quebec scene with a wide number of artists with jazz, pop and classical backgrounds. She is renowned for her talent and musical flexibility, Hélène Lemay graduated her bachelor's degree in Music at the University of Sherbrooke. The Conseil des Arts et Lettres du Québec also awarded her with grants on several occasions.
Founder and President of Tuxedo Swing Productions, Hélène has a solid reputation and creates large-scale cultural events with the greatest artists on the national and international scenes. As the Director of the Grand Ensemble de Musiques Urbaines (GEMU), she initiates tours that highlight diverse artistic productions, including La vie est musique, which won the Youth Initiative prize in 2018.
Thanks to the support of major donors and partners, her productions are now presented in Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia. Her passion for promoting Quebec artists from different musical backgrounds also led her to create in her hometown the Warwick Cultural Series, reflecting the eclecticism of her tastes.
Since 2015, Hélène Lemay has been a Buffet Crampon Paris / Antoine Courtois artist. She immediately fell in love with the Courtois trombone, its extraordinary dynamic spectrum and its incredible precision. Since then, she has an exclusive contract with Courtois instruments.
